Rotation refers to the circular movement of a skateboard around its center (or point) of rotation. There are three basic types of rotation; Lateral Rotation, Axis Rotation and Transverse Axis Rotation.

Lateral Rotation

Lateral Rotation rotates around the vertical axis. Shove-It Tricks, like 360 Shove-Its, fall into this category.

Lateral Rotation

Axis Rotation

Axis Rotation rotates around the longitudinal axis. Flip Tricks, like Kickflips or Finger Flips, typically fall into this category.

Axis Rotation

Transverse Axis Rotation

Transverse Axis Rotation rotates around the axial plane that divides the nose and tail. Many Truck-to-Truck Transfer Tricks, like a Carousel, fall into this category. Many other tricks utilize this rotation and often combine with one of the other types of rotations.
