  • A Heelside Railstand is where you stand on the side edge of the board with the grip tape facing toward your back and your wheels facing forward. This position is usually used as a segue into other rail or flip tricks.

    Start with your left (front) foot lined up along the left side (outside edge) of the board and with your right (back) foot hanging about halfway off of the right side (inside edge) of the board, over the rear wheels.

    Start with your right (front) foot lined up along the right side (outside edge) of the board and with your left (back) foot hanging about halfway off of the left side (inside edge) of the board, over the rear wheels.

    Bend your knees a bit and then push down with your left (front) foot, and at the same time, with your right (back) foot, pull back and guide the board to rail while rolling the foot forward to meet the rear wheel.

    Bend your knees a bit and then push down with your right (front) foot, and at the same time, with your left (back) foot, pull back and guide the board to rail while rolling the foot forward to meet the rear wheel.

    At this point your left (front) foot will have finished its job of setting things in motion so start bringing your left (front) foot off of the deck and up onto the rail and front wheels.

    At this point you should be in a Heelside Railstand with your right (back) foot supporting you until you bring your left (front) foot to rest on the rail and front wheels.

    At rest in the Heelside Railstand. If you are a bit out of balance when you get up into the railstand, it is acceptable and sometimes even stylish to walk backwards in the railstand until you catch your balance.

    Tips
